Virtual Reality Video Conferencing (Video Speaks)
Virtual Reality Video Conferencing
Summary
of Video
This video showcases the evolution from
1964 when AT&T presented Picture Phone Mod1 at the world’s fair. PictureTel
came and significantly reduced the cost of video conferencing. Video
conferencing took another dimension when Niklas Zennström, Janus Friis, and four Estonian developers introduced
Skype. Teams and Zoom were birthed and were used between 2011 and 2019.
However, the
tentacles of video conferencing were extended because everybody was forced to
meet online, primarily via Zoom and Teams. Even students and religious organizations
were using video conferencing for their meetings and classes. Video
conferencing became the new norm, and various improvements rolled in. The video
showcases the latest improvement by Microsoft. Even with all these improvements, the total
experience of being in a conference room is still not present in virtual meetings.
In the next decade and beyond, Virtual Reality Video
Conferencing will have “virtual taste,” “virtual smell,” and “streaming language translation”
functionalities added to video conferencing. An exponential growth rate is expected
for video conferencing, and the users will be in a virtual meeting and have a
total feel of an in-person meeting.
